Asahi Shizenkan Snow Park

Asahi Shizen Mura is a small, family-friendly ski resort located in Yamagata Prefecture, one of Japan's snowiest regions. Operating between elevations of 480m to 860m, this intimate resort features 6 runs serviced by 3 lifts, making it an ideal destination for beginners and families seeking a relaxed skiing experience away from crowded mega-resorts. The resort benefits from impressive annual snowfall of 850cm (over 27 feet), delivering the reliable powder conditions that Japan's Sea of Japan side is famous for.

What makes Asahi Shizen Mura unique is its accessible, low-key atmosphere that offers international visitors an authentic local Japanese ski experience. The modest vertical drop of 380m and limited run selection mean this isn't a resort for advanced skiers seeking extreme terrain, but rather a charming village-style destination perfect for those learning to ski, traveling with children, or looking to experience rural Yamagata's winter culture. The abundant snowfall ensures quality conditions throughout the season, though visitors should note that night skiing is not available.
